Some time ago I read the work of a man who was looking at gender in science-related books for children. Books about scientists for children were printed in equal sex ratio, so that books on Marie Curie's life are more numerous than Einstein's.
I think they should just let historic figures undergo sex changes just like fictional characters have in school textbooks in order to keep the balance equal.
